This is a very hard to get out of print book on Alabama trade tokens. This book covers thousands of trade tokens used in Alabama and rates them according to rarety. Other names for token are: clacker, scrip, good fors, commissary brass, brass, goo-ga-loo, flickers, and merchant trade tokens. Soft cover. Authored by Roy J. Wood and published in 1995 .  103 pages complete.  This copy is like new but may have a scuff or 2 on the paper.    PRICE $50

1c MARGARET, ALABAMA FUEL AND IRON COMPANY TOKEN ST. CLAIR COUNTY

This piece of claker is in excellent condition.  Margaret is located between Odenville and Moody in St. Clair county. The token is 22mm in diameter.   PRICE $55  SOLD

5c G.E. COLLINS DRUG CO. LAFAYETTE, ALABAMA, CHAMBERS COUNTY

For sale here is a piece of clacker from “G.E. Collins Drug Co., LA FAYETTE, ALA.”.  Token states “GOOD FOR 5 c AT SODA FOUNTAIN”.  Octagon shaped clacker is made of aluminum and is 24 mm wide.    PRICE  $45.00 

CLACKER TOKEN FROM LEE-RODGERS MERCANTILE COMPANY AMERICA, ALABAMA, WALKER COUNTY

For sale here is a 5 cent ORCA token from the Lee-Rodgers Mercantile Company which was located in America, Alabama in Walker County. White metal construction and 19 mm in diameter.  Good condition.   PRICE.$45  SOLD

T.C.I. & R.R. CO. 1c CLACKER ENSLEY, JEFFERSON COUNTY, ALABAMA

This piece of clacker is not marked Ensley but is attributed. The token is marked “T.C.I. & R.R. CO GOOD FOR ONE 1 CENT IN MDSE AT ALL COMMISSARIES”.  The coin is brass and measures 18mm. PRICE $35 SOLD

1 cent REPUBLIC STEEL CORPORATION TRADE TOKEN SAYRETON, JEFFERSON COUNTY, ALABAMA

Here we have a brass 1 cent clacker from the Republic Steel Corporation mine in Sayreton, Alabama. The token is pretty rough but very readable. It measures 20 mm and has a single “S” cut-out.  PRICE  $45 SOLD

 

50 cent CLACKER. CITRONELLE TURPENTINE COMPANY, MOBILE COUNTY, ALABAMA

Here we have another rare clacker from Mobile County. This piece is made by Ingle System and measures 30 mm. Turpentine farms were common in south Alabama and this clacker was used in the company store.   PRICE  $125 SOLD

 

10 CENT CLACKER-TOMBRELLO COAL COMPANY CARDIFF, JEFFERSON COUNTY, ALABAMA

Here we have a nice piece of clacker for the Tombrello Coal Company, Inc. for their Cardiff, Alabama coal mine. 22 mm brass ORCA coin with diamond cut-out. The clacker is dated 1941.   PRICE  $35 SOLD

Here we have another clacker piece from the Tombrello Coal Company’s Cardiff, Alabama mine in $1 denomination. The brass coin is made by ORCA and measures 32mm. It has the diamond cut-out.   PRICE  $40 SOLD

 

PAPER SCRIPT FROM OAKMAN MINING COMPANY, OAKMAN, WALKER COUNTY, ALABAMA  13 PIECES

I really enjoy this collectible and am listing several pieces for your consideration. I have heard old timers who grew up in the coal mine communities call this money “clacker” and “googaloo”.  This coin scrip money is for the company store of the Tombrello Coal Company located in Cardiff, Alabama.  Cardiff is located in Jefferson County in the Brookside, Graysville area. This 5 cent denomination is made by ORCO and dated 1945 and is in excellent condition.   PRICE  $30 SOLD
